Soul Nebula
IC1848 / Westerhout 5 / Sharpless 2-199 / LBN 667
The Soul Nebula is a young, about a 1 million year old, emission nebula in Cassiopeia. It is 7,500 light-years away and is 100 light-years across. This nebula is close to the Heart Nebula we captured in 2021.
Combined broadband & narrowband
We have just added over 3 hours of narrowband data (Ha & OIII) to the previously captured broadband. This way more of the nebulosity is visible while still retaining natural star color.
October 2022
Better noise reduction and double resolution.

Technical details
Temperature was -1°C, relative humidity 83%. The FOV and rotation was slightly adjusted compared to the 2021 version to capture more of the nebula.

Broadband only version from 2021

Technical details
Temperature was 4°C, relative humidty 83%. We decided to refocus after frame 36 and there was a need for a meridian flip after frame 48. Finally, we ran out of battery at 4am - both the rig and us :-) The only pictures we have made with this setup are of the Sun and of M13, so we are still very much learning the quirks of it.
